ABOUT THE BOOK
This book aims to explore, in a careful and comprehensive way, the innumerous correlations and possibilities between the concepts of book and artistic creations, both permeated by digital technologies. It was born from the 6th national and 3rd international edition of Simpósio de Literatura e Informática in Belo Horizonte, an event created in 2003 at UERJ by initiative of Nupill - Núcleo de Pesquisa em Informática, Literatura e Linguística da UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina) - which aims to investigate the relationships between languages and computer media. In 2014, the Symposium emphasized connections that involved the existence of the book, given the tensions between the analogue and the digital. It was, therefore, not about acknowledging the possibilities of the printed and the digital - which is often thought solely in terms of the pdf and ePub technologies - but about expanding a critical reflection on artistic creation and the objects produced with the support and appropriation of various technologies. These issues are presented in the first part of the book, entitled "Digital Literature and Books". In the second part, the reflections are narrowed down to understand the expansions of the body and the re-signification of sensations and perceptions that result from the applications of the machines in the construction of the imaginary, of the languages remodeled by the screens that alter the modes of perception and feeling, of the redefinition of memory, the re-writing of subjectivity and of the authorial body, among other logics. The third part is reserved for creators, who reflect on their own creative experiences, with regard to a laboratory aspect, with the intention of understanding their own concerns and how their work, in the context of expanded fields, of interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary methods and techniques, transfigures art itself from its displacement into the digital terrain.
